Program Description:

This audio program features current news and information from the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

Asthma is one of the most common chronic medical conditions in the United States, but it is far more common among minorities and people with low incomes. Dr. Clancy explains asthma and how to manage it.

  • This week’s News and Numbers finds that deaths following hospitalization have declined;
  • A new review compared coronary bypass surgery with angioplasty and Dr. Art Sedrakyan, a health services researcher with AHRQ and a trained cardiac-thoracic surgeon, discusses the review;
  • And our “Navigating the Health Care System” segment features an interview with AHRQ Director, Dr. Carolyn Clancy, talking about asthma and minorities.
