This audio program features current news and information from the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

Health literacy is how well people understand and can evaluate information about their health and about health care options.

  • In News and Numbers this week, a new AHRQ survey that finds less than half of all children in the U.S. visited a dentist at least once in 2004;
  • Our segment on “Navigating the Health Care System” looks at health literacy and understanding health information;
  • A unique set of tools designed to help pharmacists communicate better with patients who have limited health literacy.
