Podcast: Open Enrollment

Rand: From the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, I’m Rand Gardner with Healthcare 411. Information for better health.

With open enrollment season beginning soon for many of us, it’s time to start thinking about the type of health plan we’ll need for the coming year. Recent data from AHRQ shows those employers who offer health insurance are giving employees more choices. And it’s important for you to do some homework.

AHRQ Director Dr. Carolyn Clancy explains:

Dr. Clancy: Preparing for open enrollment season starts with getting to know the different options you have and how they work. Having this information in hand will help you select the plan best that fits your situation. Of course, choosing a good health plan is no guarantee against getting sick. But a wise choice will make it easier for you to play an active role in your own care.

Rand: To find options that are available under the health care law, go to www.healthcare.gov. Healthcare 411 is a production of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
